Mise-en-Scene (Colour)

Colour
The first film that used colour was in a film called 'Voyage a Travers' by George Melics in 1904. Back then films was painted hand, frame by frame.

The next development was two-strip technicolor using only red and green. They used this in the mystery of the wax museum (1933).

The first full three strip technicolor was Becky Sharp (1934).  From the 1930s to the 1940's Colour represented fantasy and speculation whilst black and white represented reality.
