A History Of Violence

A history of violence opening secene analayse

Camera analyse
Their were two shots in the first scene and 4 shots all together. To film the film they must ofused a steady cam for some of the shots they used. Or at one point they might of used a tram to keep up with the car. Their was a extreme close up on the gun to symblise the gun's power.
Sound analyse
When he enters the building is when the non-diegetic sound starts as slow music plays. Their were also many diegetic noises such as the radio playing county music. The sound of the truck driving past. also their s the sound of the bell, or the fridge door opening. Their was the sound of the water pouring, the sound of the girl which was all the diagetic.
Editing

Their where 12 cuts which all started when the character in white shirt walked through into the lobby. Since the first cut they started happening more often and making the shots shorter to help build suspense.
Mise en scene
On screen it shows the characters where tired as they moved slowley. When the character in white was into the lobby he touches things and it ust being nosey. He acts so calm and relaxed even when he is arround the dead bodys. He was even calm when he shot the girl. The guy in white was dressed casual while the other guy was dressed in black but dressed smart. It was obvious he was the leader as he gave orders which the other character followed out imidently. When they left the room the guy in white moved the chair so everything looked normal and just to show they are fixing every little detail.

Styles Of Edititng

Styles of editing

Straight Cut
one shot moves instantly to the next without attracting the audience attention
Straight cuts help retain reality. They do not break the viewers suspension of disbelief

Dissolves
Fading one shot off screen while another shot screen while another shot is fading in
The audience will be able to see both shots on the screen at the midpoint of the dissolve
If the film maker wants to show a connection between two characters, places or objects

Fades
a gradual darkening or lightening of a image until it becomes black or white
One shot will fade until only a black or white screen can be seen
Used to
indicate the end of a particular section of time with the narrative

Wipes
One image is pushed off the screen by another

Jump cut
A jump cut is where the audiences attention is brought into focus on something very suddenly
This occurs by breaking the continuity editing
This is known as discontinuity
It appears as if a section of the sequence has been removed.
